Popular Kids Costumes for Halloween 2012
While you may not want to even start to think about Halloween already, now is the time to begin preparing. You do not want to be like all the other parents who leave planning, creating or shopping for a costume until the last minute, and you certainly do not want to be the person who panics and thinks they can find a nanny at the last minute to help out. Now is when you want to prepare. If you wait until October, you will find everything in the stores picked over, and you may not be able to squeeze enough time in your busy schedule to make a decent one that they won’t complain about. Halloween is one of the most magical times of the year for children, so their costume should reflect this.
- Lalaloopsy – If you have a little girl, there is a very good chance that she has an obsession with Lalaloopsy. These are the ragdolls that came to life magically when their last stitch was sewn. If you start now, or ask your nanny to help, these are costumes that you can make incredibly easy. You may just need to buy a wig or spray hair paint on their hair in blue, pink, orange or yellow.
- Madagascar – You can expect Madagascar costumes to be popular for boys and girls this year. Choose from Marty the zebra, Gia the leopard, Alex the lion or even the penguin.
- Batman – Although you would think there would only be boy Batman costumes available, there are some pretty adorable Batgirl costumes as well. Who doesn’t love the country’s most popular superhero?
- Avengers – If your child tells you that they want an Avengers costume, you better make sure that you know which one they are speaking of before you go shopping. There are Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thunder and Thor. If you have several kids or if your child is going with a group of friends, you can create the entire team, which is sure to turn heads in the neighborhood!
- Angry Birds – The great thing about most Angry Birds costumes is that the child can wear their own clothes underneath. This is perfect if it is cold out, and they need to bundle up.
- Twilight – Depending on the age of your child, there is a very good chance that they may want to dress up as a werewolf or vampire, which ever happens to be their favorite Twilight character.
- Harry Potter – There are few kids who are not just a little obsessed with Harry Potter. However, aside from the main character, they may want to also dress up as Dobby, Hermione, Dumbledore, Death Eater or Voldemort as well.
- Toy Story – Any character from Toy Story 3 is expected to be popular for Halloween 2012, especially Buzz, Jessie, Bo Peep, Rex and Hamm.
- Pirate – This is a costume that has always been and always will be hot for boys and girls. Of course, the popularity of Captain Jack Sparrow has helped skyrocket the sales on pirate costumes over the past few years. These are also easy to make, and you can simply buy a toy sword, hat and eye patch. Check out Swords of Honor for pirate costumes.
- Smurfs – As a parent, you were likely just as excited over the Smurfs comeback as your kids were at being introduced to them. Smurfette is bound to be a popular pick for girls this year.
- Princess – When all else fails, go with a princess costume for little girls. If you happen to find a nanny who sews, you can have an extraordinary princess costume made for just a few dollars and a visit to the fabric store.
